Why you need an image in a certain number of KB

Upload boxes everywhere come with a size cap. A marketplace listing wants product photos under a few hundred KB, a supplier or bank form wants your PAN card scan under 100 KB, and an exam or job form wants a photo under 50 KB and a signature under 20 KB. A phone photo is usually 2 to 5 MB, so it gets rejected with a terse "file too large" and no help.

This tool shrinks a photo to the number you type. It first lowers the JPG quality step by step and keeps the highest quality that still fits, because a slightly softer photo at full size looks better than a sharp thumbnail. Only if even the lowest quality is too big does it reduce the width and height, keeping the shape. You can also set a maximum width or height yourself when a form asks for exact pixels too.

It aims a little under your number on purpose: some websites count a KB as 1000 bytes and others as 1024, so a file that is under 50,000 bytes passes a "max 50 KB" check either way. For Meesho product photos, use the catalog image formatter to get them square on white first, then bring them down here if a size cap still bites. Got documents as PDFs instead? Merge them into one file without uploading them anywhere.

How to resize an image to a size in KB

Three steps. A batch of photos takes a few seconds.

  1. Step 1: Type the size you need

Enter the maximum size in KB, or tap a common size like 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB. Optionally set a maximum width or height in pixels.

  2. Step 2: Add your photos

Drop JPG, PNG or WebP images onto the box, or tap Choose images. Up to 30 at a time.

  3. Step 3: Download

Each image shows its old and new size. Download them one by one, or tap Download all.

Why resize here

Most "compress image" sites upload your photo to their server first. This one does the work on your own device.

  • Hits the number you type

Every image comes out at or under your target - and close to it, so you do not lose more quality than you have to.

  • Photos stay on your device

Resizing runs in your browser. ID scans, signatures and product photos are never uploaded.

  • Works on your phone

Pick photos straight from the gallery, resize, and upload them to the form from the same phone.

  • Free, with no catches

No signup, no daily limit, no watermark on the result.

What the data says

The photos people shrink most - ID scans, signatures, passport photos - are exactly the ones that should not be uploaded to a stranger’s server.

What it means for you: Resizing in your browser means the photo never leaves your phone or computer. It is not legal advice - just the simplest way to keep personal documents private.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image to 50 KB?

Type 50 in the target size box (or tap 50 KB), then add your photo. The tool returns a JPG at or under 50 KB with the highest quality that fits. Tap Download to save it.

Can I reduce a photo to 20 KB or 10 KB?

Yes. Very small targets like 10 or 20 KB are common for signatures and passport-size photos. The tool will lower the quality and, if needed, the pixel size until it fits. If the result looks too small, crop the photo to just the face or signature first, then resize.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is opened and re-saved by your own browser. Nothing is sent to SellersPlaza or any server, which matters for ID cards, signatures and anything with personal details on it.

Why is the result a little smaller than the size I typed?

Websites disagree on whether a KB is 1000 or 1024 bytes. The tool aims at 1000-byte KB, so a 50 KB target gives a file under 50,000 bytes - which passes a 50 KB limit either way. Your file manager, which counts in 1024s, may show it as about 48 KB.

Can I also set the size in pixels?

Yes. Enter a maximum width, height or both. The image is scaled down to fit inside that box, keeping its shape, and then brought under your KB target.

What happens to a PNG with a transparent background?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. That is usually what forms and marketplaces want. Choose WebP if you need a newer, smaller format and the website accepts it.

My photo is already under the size. What happens?

If it is already a JPG under your target and you did not ask for a pixel size, it is kept exactly as it is - re-saving it could only lower the quality.
